Making Movies: Catwoman - Local Hero - 04-07-2004 Just thought I would post some links to a couple of new pics of Halle in costume, for those interested. click here for images click here for the official site Personally I would have preferred to see them using Selina Kyle backstory for the movie and would have liked to see anyone but Ms Berry in the role. She might have 'won' an oscar, but that doesn't make her a great actress. - The Truth - 04-07-2004 I know I'll probably gain a reputation as a movie basher if I keep saying things like this but.....that costume is absolutely hideous! Seriously. When I first saw it in the pages of some Video Game magazine I thought "surely they are not serious". But then I saw it once more in Wizard and pondered "how can they be serious?" And now, I see it again on an actual human being and say to myself "great googa mooga! those guys are serious!!" Now keep in mind, I'm not saying that is an ugly costume in relation to the attire Selena Kyle wears in the pages of Batman, on the cartoon, or in "Batman Returns". Oh no. I've read the little synopsis on this movie and this character and all by itself, as a astand alone property, I think this costume is just plain wrong. I really do. The headpiece/cowl I could probably overlook as it's an ok item. But the rest of the suit simply doesn't work for me, especially not those shoes!! If this woman is supposed to be out and about kicking butt and taking names then why in the bloody blue blazes would she wear heels that high and that thin!? I mean, I hate heels on Heroines anyway as it just never makes sense to me. But then to see her in those type of heels, instead of the more platform-esque type ones that I would assume make balancing one's self easier, ti just puts me off. Now then....the outfit itself minus the gloves is extremely nice, and I have no complaints about that. As an outfit. But as a costume it just seems as though nobody really sat down and thought that thing through. It doesn't have to be the suit from the comics or cartoons or previous Batman movies, but it should, In my opinion, cover up a lot more than that. Something like that just begs to leave skin scraped all along her midriff, shoulders and back. Eck! Listen to me. Sitting here bad mouthing her clothes like one of the dudes from "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy". I make me sick sometimes....... - Enchantress - 04-08-2004 You just had to go here, didn't ya Bill? Just had ta start a Catowman thread! tonelamer: This movie is going to blow so hard it's impossible to describe the level of lameness they are attaching to the "Batman" Franchise. Oh wait...it has nothing to do with Batman, they are going along a completely different vein. They are making a "Catwoman" movie that has nothing to do with Catwoman. Lame...lame...lame... - Tessa - 04-08-2004 I simply don't have words to describe how I feel about this whole thing, I think 'Chanty summed it up pretty well. This movie is not going to be good in any sense of the term, from the costume to the fact that they created an entirely new Catwoman for the movie just doesn't work for me. Not one I'll bother wasting my money on. ~Tessa~ - Local Hero - 04-08-2004 I report the news, then i judge it I have to agree with Truth on the costume, haven't seen as unlikely a real world costume since Barb Wire (and that was another 'classic' movie.. ahem) I really think I hate everything about the costume. That mask I do have a serious problem with.. all it takes is for someone to grab the ear in a cat fight and it's a "hey didn't you sell me some perfume?" moment. No straps? No buckles? Just gravity and hope holding it on. Never mind that it makes it look like she has elephantitis of the cranium. HA!!!! - The Truth - 05-19-2004 They pulled the online trailers. The company producing this film finally came to the realization of how bad of a movie they've made and have as such, started to pull the trailers and online teasers. A brillant move if I may say so, as when I saw the television commercial and the basic portrayal of the story I became even more disgusted with this...thing. I can't belive they actually thought this movie would sell. Idiots... Click here for the story. |
