Making Movies: Namor

Well, Variety reports that director Chris Columbus ("Harry Potter," "Mrs. Doubtfire") has been signed to helm a big screen adaptation of the tale of Atlantis' Avenging Son.

I think this may mean we are looking at an action movie with a certain level of humor in it then. Never a bad thing. As long as it doesn't turn into some sort of Man from Atlantis debacle I'll be happy.

I wouldn't care for humor in a Namor movie. Humor just doesn't lend itself to the character. Namor has never just decided to crack jokes. He's usually the one that doesn't get them. I think the movie would be freaky cool, though, and would allow Marvel to have a movie with different kinds of special effects than what we're used to seeing in movies like SpiderMan, Daredevil, and X-Men.

Yeah, Namor and Comedy aren't two things that go hand in hand. It would be....like putting Spider-Man in a pink suit.

although the whole idea sounds pretty interesting.
