The Heroes of The Watch
#10
--------------------Character #1--------------------
Name: Silver Surfer
Real name : Norrin Radd

Appearance: Covered head to toe in a near invulnerable silver/chrome skin. Eyes are completely white unless he is using his cosmic awareness, and then they are dark pools of black with a star pattern in them. Completely devoid of any hair on his body (as is the custom for Zenn-Lavian Males.) 6 feet tall and weighs about 250 lbs.

Age: 49 (Zenn-Lavians age slower than Earthlings. On Earth he would be the equivelant of a 25 year old.)

Birthplace: The planet of Zenn-La (Jurai District)

Relatives: Shalla-Bal (Wife), Jartran Radd (Brother), both Parents deceased.

Origin: Norrin Radd was a simple scientist with dreams of life beyond the boundaries of his home planet Zenn-La. On the day Galactus the world devourer came to Zenn-La, Norrin offered his services to the God in exchange for his planet's safety. Galactus imbued Norrin with The Power Cosmic. This Norrin powers that allowed him superhuman strenght (able to lift 100 tons), and produce energy beams powerful enough to annhilate cities, but also subtle enough to restructure and rearrange molecules. He has "Cosmic Awareness" which he can use to detect energy patterns as well as have a slight precognitive ability. He was coated head to toe with a new Silver skin which renders him practically invulnerable to harm. He was now the SILVER SURFER (a childhood fantasy that Norrin once had.) As the Silver Surfer, Norrin posesses a surfboard which responds to his mental commands and is as indestructible as he is. His new task was to be Galactus' herald and seek out planets suitable for the devourer to consume.

He performed this task well, and enjoyed the freedom in which it gave him. His last mission as Galactus' herald was to a small planet called Earth. On this planet, the Surfer had come into contact with a blind sculptress named Alicia Masters who had convinced him of the sanctity of life, and that he had to help stop his master from snuffing the lives of billions of people. The Surfer joined forces with the Fantastic Four (a group of native super humans who were doing everything they could, but ultimately failing in their attempts to stop Galactus.) After a Drawn out battle, Galactus finally conceded due to his overwhelming hunger. He agreed to move on, but questioned the Surfer to ascertain the reason for his betrayal.

The Surfer explained his motives and begged to be free from his servitude. Galactus pondered the inquiry, but eventually granted Surfer's plea when another being stepped up and volunteered to take Surfer's place as Galactus' herald. This person was Johnny Storm, who was the youngest and most impetuous member of the Fantastic Four. Galactus accepted the offer, and imbued Johnny with the Power Cosmic as well. Johnny Storm was now reborn as the being now known as FIRELORD. As the Devourer and his new herald prepared to leave Earth, Galactus told Surfer that his betrayal and freedom did not come without a price. Galactus then placed his mighty palm above Surfer's head, and with a bright flash of light, erased Norrin's memories from his mind. He also erased the memories of what had just transpired from the remaining members of the Fantastic Four and teleported them back to their home.

Norrin was now wandering the alien streets of New York with no clue as to who he was, what he was doing, why no one looked like him, and above all else why this shiny plank was following him everywhere he went. One day, as he was walking and trying to piece together anything that might give him a clue as to who he was, when he came under attack by a group of humans who were screaming things like "MUTIE" and "FREAK." They were throwing things at him, so he instinctually ran from them. As he did so, he ran down a dead end alley only to find a large glowing white portal. From inside the portal came a voice saying "Come through the doorway, Norrin. You will be safe in here." Not having much of an alternative, Norrin stepped through, only to be greeted by none other than Dr. Strange...

--------------------Character #2--------------------
Name: Iron Fist
Real Name: Daniel Thomas Rand-K'ai (known as Danny Rand in the United States)
Place of Birth: K'un-L'un
Known Relatives: Wendell Rand-K'ai (father, deceased) Heather Rand (mother, deceased)
Height: 5 ft. 11 in.
Weight: 175 lbs.
Eyes: Blue
Hair: Blond
Age: 29

Powers:
Through concentration iron Fist is able to summon his chi (a Chinese word for one's natural energy) to spiritually reinforce his normal abilities, raising them to the peak of human capability. This includes strength, speed, stamina, and concentration, as well as self healing ability and psychic rapport with others. By summoning his chi and focusing it into his hand, he can draw upon the superhuman energy derived from the heart of the mystic serpent Shou-Lao and make his fist inhumanly powerful and impervious to pain and injury. This "iron fist" technique does not involve a physical transformation of any kind, simply a psychic channeling of concentrated natural energy. With his fist in this state, Iron Fist can shatter wood and brick, steel, and punch his opponents with extraordinary concussive force without sustaining injury to himself. Iron Fist can also utilize the combination of his own chi and his superhuman energy to heal his own injuries or to cure his own illnesses. By projecting this energy into another person, he can heal that person.

History: Daniel Rand was the son of businessman Wendell Rand, who had once lived in the fabled city of K'un-L'un, which exists in an otherdimensional realm. Wendell Rand-K'ai, as he was known there was the eldest son and heir of Lord Tuan, who ruled K'un-L'un. However, Wendell was driven from K'un-L'un by his brother, who not only wanted to rule K'un-L'un himself, but who was Wendell's rival for the love of a woman named Shakirah. It was Wendell that Shakirah chose, and she bore him a daughter, Miranda. Wendell found refuge on Earth and became a successful businessman in the United States. In his absence, Tuan died and Wendell's brother succeeded him as Yu-Ti. Wendell married a woman named Heather, who bore him a son, Daniel.
Wendell sought to return to K'un-L'un, which ordinarily was only accessible from Earth through an interdimensional nexus that opened once every ten years. When Daniel was nine, his father traveled to Tibet along with Heather and his business partner Harold Meachum in search of the nexus to K'un-L'un. Toppling off a treacherous mountain passage, Daniel dragged his mother and father over the ice shelf with him. While he and his mother landed on a ledge below, his father dangled over the sheer drop of the mountainside and called to his partner for help. Hoping to take over Rand's share of the business, Meachum instead caused him to lose his grip and plunge to his death. Though Meachum offered to help Heather Rand and her son, they spurned him. Attempting to make it back to camp on their own, Heather and her son spied a long suspension bridge as a pack of wolves attacked. Heather tried to hold them off long enough for her son to get to safety and was killed in the effort.
Soon thereafter, denizens of K'un-L'un found the boy and took him to their city. There Daniel was brought before Yu-Ti, who had secretly plotted the Murder of both Wendell and Heather. Yu-Ti apprenticed Daniel to the martial arts master Lei Kung the Thunderer.
Rand's training under Lei Kung was rigorous. At age sixteen Rand earned the Crown of Fu-Hsi, king of the vipers, vanquished four foes in the ritualistic Challenge of the Many, and defeated Shu-Hu, a mechanical being whose name means "Lightning." Rand diligently conditioned his hands by thrusting them into tubs of hot sand, then gravel, and finally rock.
At age nineteen Rand was given the opportunity to gain the power of the Iron Fist. He was sent to battle the enormous fire-breathing serpent called Shou-Lao the Undying which lived in a cave outside the city and which ferociously guarded a brazier containing its heart, which had mystically been removed from its body. In their battle Rand grabbed the serpent's body, which bore a scar that imprinted itself upon Rand's chest. The Serpent retaliated, and snapped it's massive jaws at Danny. The Serpent's Lunge Severed Danny's Left arm. Amazingly, Danny persisted and ultimately killed the Serpent. Danny plunged his remaining Hand into the now unguarded brazier containing Shou-Lao's molten heart. When he was through, his hand shone with a quasi-mystical force and he earned the title "Iron Fist," for he could now summon superhuman energy to reinforce the power of blows struck by his hand. Danny left K'un-L'un upon it's next reappearance on Earth in order to seek out the man who inadvertantly killed both of his parents, Harold Meachum. Danny Eventually tracked down a much older Harold Meachum, and after having to fend off and fight many hired goons, was able to eventually make Meachum sign the business back over to it's rightful heir. Danny used his newfound fortune to have a new state-of-the-art metal prosthetic arm grafted to his body to replace the one that had been severred. This truly made Danny Rand into Iron Fist. The new arm was even better than he had expected, however. It posessed a strength and speed that exceeded peak human ability. He also found himself able to channel "the Iron Fist" through it. Danny's activities as Iron Fist had led him to become a crimefighter, and eventually he chose to devote his time to acting as the partner of Luke Cage, a.k.a. Power Man, in their firm Heroes for Hire, Inc. Through this firm Cage and Rand accepted jobs as special bodyguards or detectives. The two heroes formed a friendship as well as a partnership that would continue to hold strong for many years to come. Heroes for Hire, inc. eventually grew to a massive business which had offices in nearly every major city in America, and eventually, the world. Danny used his Father's fortune, as well as his K'un-L'un heritage to make his mark on the Earth. Heroes for Hire eventually annexed in such groups as the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, and even the Avengers. Crime was at an all time low all over the world, but Danny felt empty inside. He missed the old days when it was just Luke and him roughing up some common thugs to get some information about the crack house on the corner. He missed getting his hands dirty. He didn't want to have to fight people like Magneto, Ultron, or Dr. Doom on a daily basis. He longed for the days of old, and eventually signed over to one of his and Luke's good friends, Peter Parker. Danny figured Heroes for Hire would be in much more "responsible" hands if run by Peter. Luke and Peter continued to run H4H at Danny's request, and Danny set out on a soul searching mission. His travels eventually led him to the place where K'un-L'un was to appear. It had been aproximately 10 years since he had last been inside the mystical city. A large white portal appeared, and instead of K'un-L'un appearing, Danny was greeted by Dr. Strange. Stange told him that his services were direly required eleswhere, and requested that Danny follow him through the portal. Danny decided to follow Dr. Strange because this just might be the kind of fight that he had been itching for...
