  Please Read-Comics Uncovered Forum Rules
Posted by: Local Hero - 06-25-2006, 07:29 PM - Forum: Opinions Vary... - Replies (1)

Hi, and welcome to ComicsUncovered.com Comic Forums.
Sometimes volatile, sometimes controversial and always interesting, our boards require a few rules and guidelines to keep things running smoothly and happily for all concerned. Above all, enjoy, discuss and even disagree, but mind your manners.

On the 5th day, Stan the Man created us all in his image. To go forth and spread our Geekdom about the world. We are ALL equal in this task, even those of us who put up the cash to bring this cool website to you. We do not hold ourselves above anyone, and our treatment of all board members will reflect this. On the 6th day, Stan rested, and thus, DC was formed... oh wait, DC came first... scratch that, save it for later.

So, with this in mind, here are your Comics Uncovered Forum Rules…

1. Don’t tug on Superman’s Cape.

2. Impersonating others.
Choose whatever name you wish for the boards, but under NO circumstances will you intentionally impersonate another poster.

3. Keep profanity to a minimum. These are all-ages message boards and we want to maintain at the VERY WORST a PG-13 level of discourse. Also, under no circumstances should profanity (or even "cleverly" disguised profanity) be used in the subject line of a message or in a user name.

4. No spam.
Spam is defined as any message which does not relate to the topic of the message board or forum, is solely posted to advertise a personal site, a money making scheme, a chain letter, a one word or one line post, or something of that nature. The moderator’s decision on what is regarded as spam is final.

5. No Pornography.
ComicsUncovered.com is a family-friendly message board. Porn would be any nude or vulgar images or vulgar descriptions of private/intimate actions. Such messages should NEVER be posted and will likely get your ISP banned.

6. No Flames/Insults.
Blatantly insulting behavior is prohibited. This includes insults to both posters and lurkers, including comic creators who are more likely to lurk than post. By all means feel free to critique the work--but not the person. Tempers may run high, but keep all discussions civil, please. "Flame War" participants, regardless of "who started it", will be dealt with severely. Spankings all around!

7. The Infamous Rule #7.
There is no rule #7.

8. Off-Topic Threads.
Off topic discussions will be tolerated to a small degree, but when instructed by one of the moderators to end a thread, you MUST cease and desist. Taking it to e-mail or private message is the best solution.

9. Never take Vicki Vale to the Batcave. You just don’t do it!

10. Repeat Offenders.
The moderators reserve the privilege of banning offenders from the boards, temporarily or permanently, without warning. You may be warned or you may not, at the moderators' discretion.

11. Bannings.
Bannings and lesser disciplinary actions should not be discussed on the boards. Those are matters best left to email
between the poster and the moderators. If one has a question about their banning they should e-mail the moderators
for explanations (a form for contacting moderators is located where new messages begin on each board).
If you believe the moderator is not treating you fairly, the managers of ComicUncovered.com can be contacted for their input.

12. Additional Guidelines.
Individual Forums may have additional rules that are to be followed as well.

13. Broken Glass.
Don't eat broken glass! Sheesh! What are ya, nuts??!!

14. Please do not link pictures using [img] that are over 100K use [url] *a link kiddies!* instead.

15. If you’d like to use a banner in your signature, by all means, go ahead, but NOTHING over 400 x 125 for banner size, but with a total file size of 30K. If you are using a picture in your signature, you may have up to 3 lines of text. If you are not using a picture, 4 lines of text only. Breaking these rules will result in signature removal and a raspberry.

16. Spoiler Tags. We have them in place for a reason, please use them on CURRENT information. No need to spoiler something about a comic that came out 15 years ago! Everyone knows Captain America wears boxers, no need to spoiler tag that bit of info!

17. Don’t ask Beast for a tour of the Mansion, those fleas are contagious!

18. Bandwidth theft. We don’t support it, it’s not fun to pay for something someone steals, and it will be dealt with accordingly. (Bandwidth theft is directly linking something from another site without that sites express permission.) If you want to show something off, post a link, everyone appreciates links more!

Thank you for your cooperation.
Remember, think before you act. It's always funny until someone loses an eye. Then it's a game - find the eye.

As posted elsewhere the server move went well and everything is back up and running. I have ditched the old theme for the moment and am looking for ideas for a new one so if you have any suggestions please let me know by PM or by email at <!-- e --><a href="mailtoConfuseduggestions@comicsuncovered.com">suggestions@comicsuncovered.com</a><!-- e -->. Similarly if you find any site errors you can email <!-- e --><a href="mailto:errors@comicsuncovered.com">errors@comicsuncovered.com</a><!-- e -->.

You may notice that some things have changed -

  • * a shiny new portal page

There are more planned changes some of them big and shiny some of them just to make things run smoother for the admins and mods.

I'm loving all the ads, trailers and teasers I've seen for Superman Returns so far.

I thought I'd start a thread so we could discuss after it opens next week.

Please be advised (those of you who've re-appeared and promised to post more) any posts made after June 17th may not carry over in the conversion.

I'll let Local Hero fill you all in when he gets a chance. Just relaying the basics.

X-men "Divide and Conquer" after X-3
Posted by: Enchantress - 06-02-2006, 02:24 PM - Forum: Moving Pictures... - Replies (1)

From USAToday

After a boffo box office debut for X-Men: The Last Stand, the franchise opts for a divide-and-conquer strategy. Plus, we've got buzz on the Akeelah and the Bee DVD and Tony Bennett's birthday plans.
Movies: 'X-Men' franchise mutates into a pack of solo films

The X-Men mutants plan to divide and conquer.

After last weekend's four-day, $122.9 million debut of X-Men: The Last Stand, the third film in the Marvel Comics series, producers are devising ways to launch some characters into their own franchises.

The first spinoff will be Hugh Jackman's Wolverine. His character has an as-yet-unrevealed back story in which researchers replaced his original bones with a metal skeleton. Jackman has signed on to star and co-produce, and X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner says it will likely head into production next year.

"We've also talked about doing something on the kids in (Professor X's) school, focusing on their lives, and less of a global adventure for the team," says Hutch Parker, production president of 20th Century Fox.

The studio is also exploring a movie with Three Kings director David O. Russell based on the character of Emma Frost, a sexy mutant telepath who can transform her skin into diamonds. She is an X-Men comics regular but was not featured in the movies.

Another likely solo project: Magneto, also in the script phase. The film will focus on his youthful pre-villain days, Shuler Donner says.

Though it would require a younger actor for those sequences, she says the film would need Ian McKellen to anchor the flashbacks. "What's a Magneto movie without Ian?" she asks.

  Changes coming for Comics Uncovered
Posted by: Enchantress - 06-02-2006, 02:09 PM - Forum: Comics Uncovered News & Announcements... - Replies (1)

Comics Uncovered will be undergoing some "growing pains" in the next few weeks. Those of you who lurk or are members *might* experience some technical difficulties. We just ask that you be patient as we move to a new server, get some shiny new hardware.

There'll be some changes coming soon. So keep an eye on this space for updates.

Thanks!

I've been keeping an eye on the South Park boys and their battle against the evils of Scientology.

Last night didn't fail to disappoint. I laughed and was grossed out all the same.

Way to go Matt and Trey.

What the heck is going on at Marvel?
Posted by: Enchantress - 02-13-2006, 01:57 PM - Forum: Stan's Soapbox... - Replies (3)

I love the soapbox, I really do.

Of late, I've noticed myself more and more disenchanted with Marvel as a whole.
Let me start with Kevin Smith and Spider-Man/Black Cat. If Marvel ever gives him another job, someone needs to get fired. Seriously, it takes HOW many years to put out a six issue arc?
Then there's X-Men the End. Or "I'm Chris Claremont, hear me!" Blah. Boring, don't care, comes off as very Grant Morrison-ish. I can write better than that!
Thunderbolts, as I've already stated in another thread, booring.

There just seems to be a lack of quality reading out there. I've looked over the comic racks time and time again, but find myself drawn only to The New Avengers, Daredevil, Marvel Team up, Cable/Deadpool and FF.
