Ok, I know all you geeks went and seen it.

Did you like it? Critiques?

Me, I loved it. Sure, it diverged a bit from the book, but I don't think I could have sit through the 5 hour monster that would have been step by step "The book."

I'll have to go see it again, just to make sure I liked it as much as I think I did!

X-Men 3 "The Last Stand" Movie News and Trailer!
Posted by: Enchantress - 11-18-2005, 06:33 PM - Forum: Moving Pictures... - Replies (6)

From Cinescape:
X-men Films has reported "two models have signed a deal with Marvel Entertainment to be in the X-MEN 3 (or a possible spin off of the film). The women are Ashley Hartman and Mercedes Scelba-Shorte.

Mercedes will play a mutant simply known as M. Ashley is portraying Emma Frost.

For those not in the know, M equals Monet St. Croix from the old Marvel Comic GENERATION X. She's a mutant with amazing strength, telepathy, and the ability to fly. And Emma Frost, aka The White Queen, is the attractive, yet deadly mutant who's currently a member of the X-Men team, but has had a past as a villainess. She was also once the head mentor of the Generation X team.

The Blazing Return of Jonah Hex
Posted by: GlennWalker - 11-17-2005, 08:25 PM - Forum: The Daily Planet... - Replies (1)

I had picked up the Showcase reprint book of Jonah Hex because I had only read a few of the original All-Star Westerns, liked them but never followed up by getting more. Nature of the beast - I'm a superhero guy, not a western guy. Still, it's excellent stuff at a reasonable price, well worth picking up.

While I was at it I also picked up the newest version of the character in Jonah Hex #1. I was blown away. I have to admit I wasn't thrilled with the Frank Quitely cover, whose work I usually like but the inside was incredible. Inside was proof that a dead art was not dead. Writers Justin Gray and Jimmy Palmiotti had crafted an engrossing multi-layered story with wonderful characterization and no loose ends -within the confines of a single issue! That's right one story, one issue. Wow, and it was good too!

Anyone else checking this out? If not, you have my utmost reccommendation.

  Spider-Man 3 movie news!

From ain't it cool news:

It's official! Thomas Hayden Church is going to whup on Spidey as...

The Sandman!!!!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with the news of the weekend. The first of (possibly) 3 villains in SPIDER-MAN 3 has been revealed by Sony. It's not a surprise to us here. We've been reporting that Church was going to be playing Sandman since April and Mary Jane herself said that one of the villains was going to be Sandman a month or so ago. Now the real the question is Topher Grace. Who is he playing? Did Dunst really let it all slip when she said the villains were Venom and Sandman? The sources who gave us the heads up on Sandman in the first place all seem sure that Grace is playing Electro, so... Who knows? I'm sure we'll be seeing a Daily Bugel report soon... but will it have Grace with a drippy black costume or shooting electricity from his fingers?

Marvel calls Tony Stark home, New Line loses a Superhero.
Posted by: Enchantress - 11-05-2005, 04:36 PM - Forum: Moving Pictures... - Replies (1)

"Iron Man" has returned home.
After more than two years of unsuccessful development at New Line, Marvel has taken back film rights to the comicbook about an inventor who dons a high-tech suit and becomes a superhero.

Company may raise additional coincoin to produce "Iron Man" itself as part of its new internal production slate. In such a case, pic would likely be distributed by Paramount, where Marvel has a distribution deal.

"Right now we're concentrating on finding the right creative talent," explained Marvel StudiosMarvel Studios toppertopper Avi AradAvi Arad. "It's not a part of our slate deal, but we can raise the money to do it if we choose to. We would also have no difficulty licensing it to another studio."

Marvel has raised $525 million from Merrill Lynch to produce up to 10 films. Because "Iron Man" isn't part of that deal, Marvel would have to get separate funds to produce the pic itself.

Project hit numerous snags at New Line. Late last year, studio announced Nick CassavetesNick Cassavetes was attached to direct, but it turned out the "Notebook" helmer never had a deal.

Drafts by Alfred GoughAlfred Gough & Miles MillarMiles Millar ("Smallville""Smallville") and David HayterDavid Hayter ("X-Men""X-Men") didn't get traction.

Tom CruiseTom Cruise also reportedly flirted with the role last year before signing onto "War of the Worlds."

Arad expressed frustration in March that the Cassavetes deal fell through, so it wasn't a surprise that he took the project back when New Line's option expired this summer.

Marvel will now start development from scratch, commissioning a new script and possibly attaching a director before deciding whether to finance the pic itself or license it again.

Cassavetes remains a candidate to direct, Arad said.

If Marvel ends up making "Iron Man" itself, it could be one of its highest-profile projects. Most films in its Merrill Lynch-financed slate, like "Ant Man" and "Power Pack," are based on characters little known outside the comicbook world, save for "Captain America."

Watch it... I guarantee you'll look at it and go "HOLY!"

Ok, maybe not, but it does look like it's going to be a damn good movie. I give props to Peter Jackson for casting Jack Black in a serious role.

Star Trek loses a shining star.
Posted by: Enchantress - 11-02-2005, 02:38 PM - Forum: Moving Pictures... - Replies (2)

From Ain't It Cool News-

Michael Piller, a longtime executive producer of Star Trek: The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine and Voyager, lost his battle with cancer today. The co-creator of Deep Space Nine and Voyager and writer of Star Trek: Insurrection, whose most recent production was the ABC Family series Wildfire, died at age 57.

Piller, who produced more than 500 hours of Star Trek, had struggled with an aggressive form of head and neck cancer but kept his condition private from many of his associates. StarTrek.com notes that in addition to his writing and producing credits on the Star Trek shows, Piller co-created UPN's Legend and more recently USA's The Dead Zone, along with his son, Shawn Piller.

Born in Portchester, New York, Piller worked at one time as a television censor. Before he became a full-time writer, he was an Emmy Award-winning broadcast journalist with CBS News in New York. Stints as an editor and news director in Charlotte and Chicago preceded a job as a programming executive. Piller's credits included police dramas such as Cagney & Lacey and Miami Vice; in addition to The Dead Zone and Wildfire, he co-created and executive produced Group One Medical.

After joining the writing staff of The Next Generation, Piller created Deep Space Nine together with Rick Berman - the first show to bear the name of Star Trek in which Gene Roddenberry was not directly involved. Later Berman and Piller co-created Voyager with Jeri Taylor. After leaving his production job with the Star Trek franchise to work with Shawn at Piller Squared, Michael Piller remained a creative consultant on Star Trek: Voyager.

"Michael Piller was a class act, a generous soul, and a genuinely nice guy to work for," said graphic designer and scenic art supervisor Michael Okuda, who has been involved with the Star Trek franchise since the original series feature films. "We're all indebted to his talent and his hard work. He left us far too soon, and we will miss him greatly."

Just starting this so everyone can check in and we can see what's new with each other.

Thor and I are doing great. SuperGirl is 10 months old and trying her darnest to walk. Her favorite word is "Momammaaaa!!!" said almost like a curse word.

I'm taking some "Vacation" time so I'll be around a bit more in the upcoming weeks.

We're all looking forward to fall here. I'm so sick of summer I can scream.
