Kal-El Cage?
Posted by: Enchantress - 10-05-2005, 09:28 PM - Forum: Moving Pictures... - Replies (3)

From Yahoo News!
LOS ANGELES - Nicolas Cage is a new father. His wife, Alice Kim Cage, gave birth Monday to a boy, Kal-el Coppola Cage, in New York City, said Cage's Los Angeles-based publicist, Annett Wolf. No other details were available.
"They are healthy and happy and it's quite lovely," Wolf said by phone from New York.
Cage is a nephew of filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola. The 41-year-old actor had been slated to play comic book hero Superman, whose Kryptonite name is Kal-el, in a film by Tim Burton around 1996, but the movie fell apart in preproduction.
The couple married in July 2004. It was the third marriage for Cage and the first for his new wife, who was 20 when they were wed. They met when Cage visited a Los Angeles restaurant where she was working as a waitress.
Cage, who won an Oscar for his role in "Leaving Las Vegas," has a son from a previous relationship.
His screen credits also include "Lord of War," now in theaters, "Adaptation," "Honeymoon in Vegas" and "Moonstruck."
He was previously married to Lisa Marie Presley and actress Patricia Arquette.

Alright Nick... I'm a comic geek as much as the next person, but COME ON! This is a name your kid has to carry around for life.

Granted... had our little girl been a boy... We had discussed Jor-El as an option for a middle name.
Simply because... Zod was out of the question!

I've sat by and watched people get all riled up about this on several different website today and I've done nothing but chuckle about it.

  Justice League Unlimited Season 3 Debut (SPOILERS)
Posted by: The Truth - 09-18-2005, 08:24 AM - Forum: Moving Pictures... - Replies (8)

Season 3 of JLU started tonight with not one, but TWO brand spankin' new episodes featuring the return of old fan favorites Lex Luthor and Gorrila Grood in the first, and the possible debut of a new hero in the second.

I don't want to discuss plot points and spoil the story for those who haven't seen it here in the first post, but for those of us you who were fortunate enough to catch it...

Thoughts? Concerns? Comments?

And while I don't want to spoil any of the first two episodes, I will spoil on thing I noticed at the end of the second episode....
Supergirl is going to be donning her current comic book attire.

One the one hand, I'm happy they're losing the Mickey Mouse gloves and making her more up to date, but on the other, those silly gloves and white t-shirt look was classic for her animated self.
Search through the story and find the link to the Moviephone trailer. It's a high res trailer but definately worth the wait to download.

It looks awesome and makes you feel that perhaps after POA, they've gotten it back to the Chris Columbus look of the film. The one everyone loved.

Yeah, we've been absent for a bit. While The Mighty One had every intention of moving along his game and posting in Guardians, he will be unable to do so for about another 6 weeks.

See, he got into a wrestling match with a tablesaw at work. The tablesaw won. He's got his "hunt and peck finger" (cause he can't type) cut pretty bad and is in a cast.

Me, I'm trying to take care of him and a chicken pox infested 9 month old.

I'll be around sporadically.

Oh, and I hear our fearless leader (local) has been lurking!

  Assignment - R&R
Posted by: The Truth - 08-07-2005, 08:15 PM - Forum: Game: The Guardians of Twilight... - Replies (49)

Hours after De's suggestion to move the quest for some much needed downtime from the sandy shores of Twilight Cove to the sandy shores of his native Australia, bags had been packed, the jet had been refueled and a note had been left behind to the effect of "Gone shopping. Be back in an hour!" With Chandi at the controls and a burning desire to get away from it all fueling them, the made the trip in record time, which was fortunate since De seemed to have a hard time keeping his mouth shut about what a great place it was and happy he was to be going back.

They touched down just on the far side of Melbourne Airport, after a bit of name dropping of De's part, and stepped out into the cool summer night of the Autralian air. It was beatiful really. A nice large moon hanging in the air, and stars littering the sky. They unloaded their belongings and locked up the jet, starting to make their way to the terminal so they could rent a car for their little vacation of sorts, and everything was going fine. Or at least things were until something told their resident intergalactic swashbucker to take one last peek at their ride home.

A ride home he found missing after having only walked twenty yards from the thing.

This Time With Pics!!!!!

Day one report.
~~~~~~~~~~
Bloody 'ell!! What's wrong with me!? How is it that whenever I go to one of these things alone I end up spending more than I should have? But I digress. I'll start by saying I woke up late. Eleven o'clock late to be exact, and didn't get to the convention hall until 1. That alone cheesed me off to no end. But I got over it. Fridays are for shopping anyway, and boy did I shop. Picked up a Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors DVD for myself, and an anime one for a friend, along with the first two issues of Marvel's MAX Cage, one of the issues of Agent X that I'm missing, and a few indy works to support the up and commers.
What's more....I met MC Chris of Sealab 2021 and Aqua Teen Hunger Force fame. Shook his hand, bought his album (he even signed it the nice guy that he is) and spoke with him a little bit about the ATHF movie that Cartoon Network should be putting out in the next few months. V for Vendetta? Yup. Saw the trailer and it looks pretty decent. However, keep in mind I'm not familiar with the source material (and I also reported last year that Constantine looked good Sad ) so you probably don't want to trust my judgement when it comes to something like this.
Random Cosplay Pic!
[Image: hellfire.jpg]
So...unlike last year when I made every other Cosplayer there my sworn enemy (save for pint sized Green Lantern and Flash) I decided to throw my a**hole attitude on a back burner for the day and actually embrace the Cosplayers. Not physically mind you (though there are a few like the ones above I wouldn't have minded hugging to say the least) but in a more social way. Instead of steering clear of them, I stopped them when I could and asked for a pic. Didn't see a Jack Sparrow this year (maybe tomorrow), and I missed an excellent Dr. Crane from Batman Begins, but I think I did alright for myself.
[Image: joker.jpg]
Tomorrow I plan on doing as I did last year, spending the day waiting in lines trying to get as many autographs as possible. I blessing, and perhaps my curse is that the lovely....no....Gorgeous.....Mercedes McNabb is supposed to be there tomorrow, and I fear that If I don't get at the very least his autograph....my three day ticket will have been for nought.
(I mark for Hollywood Hogan, Aisha Tyler, and Mercedes McNabb)
[Image: cloud.jpg]
Plenty of great booths this year selling plenty of good books, trades (gotta get a few tomorrow) and assorted swag, and I even managed to take in a panel. Yes, I know you've probably read it elsewhere by now, but at todays Cup of Joe panel, the Marvel EEC announced that both Jeph Loeb and Joe Mad have signed with Marvel comics and will be working on a project that will be discussed in next month's Wizard.
Also....I learned that Brian Michael Bendis is only 4 feet tall, Marvel's working on a GLA holiday special, and that a new book featuring Boom Boom (among others) called Next Wave will be debuting soon.
I still can't figure out why I her boyfriend into the shot. Ruined a perfectly good pic.
Ah Well. More Tomorrow!
Just finished reading this yesterday. Feel free to jump into discussions.
First off, Thor said he heard somewhere that this book is Rowling's "Empire Strikes Back." Nothing could be truer.
While I feel the book was a bit rushed, as was the ending, I'm still left amazed by it all.
Spoilers
NO FRIGGIN WAY! Snape did not just off Dumbledore! While I knew from chapter 2 that Malfoy was out to kill Dumbledore (I feel that was very thinly veiled...I had no frickin clue Snape would turn out to be the HBP!
(from DCComics.com)
WRITER MARK WAID SIGNS 2-YEAR EXCLUSIVE AGREEMENT WITH DC COMICS
July 26th, 2005 - Mark Waid, renowned writer of LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES, EMPIRE and the upcoming BRAVE AND BOLD monthly, has signed a 2-year exclusive agreement with DC Comics.
"In a sense, DC's been my home since I was four years old and learning to read, so it's a very natural relationship to make," says Waid. "The assigments spinning out of this exclusive will have me collaborating with some of the greatest comic-art superstars in the field today, and every one of them is a writer's dream to work with. In signing the exclusive alongside comics' brightest talents, I feel as if I've been asked to join the JLA or the Legion of Super-Heroes. And then I realize how dorky that sounds, so I won't say it out loud. Hey, you didn't quote me, did you?"
"No one knows more about our heroes and our history than Mark," says Dan DiDio, VP — Executive Editor, DCU. "We've very happy to make his expertise a major part of our planning, both on new projects and the direction the DCU takes in the future."
And don't miss LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES #8, hitting comics shops tomorrow, July 27!
Also, LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES #1-6 will be collected in the LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES VOL. 1: TEENAGE REVOLUTION, coming in November!
Where Glenn when I need him, give me some back story. All I know about it is what Thor has said which equates to "We're getting it!!!!"
