Batman Begins: Your thoughts/feelings/reactions |

So. It's Wednesday the 15th of June 2005 and the opening day for the new movie Batman Begins. This movie acts as a landmarker for the franchise in the movie industry, possessing the power to redeemed the Dark Knight's tarnished name, or grabbing a shovel and burying an even deeper hole for it to be buried in with its shame and disgrace. So much rides on this movie for the Batman, so many hopes, fears, dreams, terrors, wants, and dreads formulated during the movies production. And now, its opening day. The film has been released into the public, and it is the public who decides the fate of this film, and possibly the franchise.
So, I ask you, members and leaders of comicsuncovered, after seeing this film, what is your judgement on the Dark Knight's latest film:
Batman Begins.

How do I sell my comic collection? |

Hello,
Having just finished grad school, I moved into a new house and finally had all my childhood belongings shipped out from home, including several hundred Marvel comics (circa 1981-1986). I really don't want them anymore but have absolutely no idea how to go about finding out fair market for them, selling them, etc. The books themselves include complete runs for both Secret Wars series, all of the Amazing Spidermans around the time of the Hobgoblin, a bunch of Marvel Universes, etc. The've been stored in the closet of an air conditioned house (stagger-spined, many in plastic covers) for the last twenty years, but I don't really know the difference between, say, "mint" and "fine". Finally, I really don't have time to post each individual book on e-bay, something already suggested by a couple of friends.
Any advice? Suggestions? Is there a manner in which this is normally done?
Much appreciated,
Pat

Chanty, I believe this one's got your name ALL OVER IT! Kind of disappointed that they are going to be getting rid of what Excalibur had become as of late, though.
there's a new Excalibur team starting up towards the end of the year. Captain Britain leads a team consisting of Pete Wisdom, Juggernaut, Nocturne, Sage and Dazzler with an all-new #1.

As the jet hovered down on the landing pad, the team could see Mulder standing with his hands in his pockets next to a couple of heavily uniformed military personnel. That would also explain the Army green helicopter sitting on their landing pad as well.
With the Scarecrow in tow, they exited the jet and watched as the MPs silently came forward, took the Scarecrow from them, and made their way to their helicopter.
"Well, job well done and with only a few scratches I see." Mulder looked at AJ's bandaged hand and smiled.
"You do manage to take the brunt of everything don't you?" motioning towards the main house, he turned and started walking away.
"Come on, no debriefing on the beach."

I thought it was high time we had a thread such as this. Avi Arad, the president and CEO of Marvel Studios, is constantly speaking out about the House of Idea's latest film projects, and now we have a place to share all the tidbits that you hear drop from this highly influential man. I got the idea for this thread after reading a great interview with him on FilmForce.com today. Check it out...there are some great tidbits in here. I especially like the idea of a Marvel Studios / Pixar colaboration sometime down the line.
Read it for yourself by following this link.

Gorshin will be remembered always when we watch all those great campy shows. Same Bat-time. Same Bat-channel.

Last Time on "Batman" (SPOILERS) |

Sigh. Mayhaps I should have listened to The Mighty Thor and picked up Winnick's Bat title, for at the moment I find myself....disenchanted....again with the bat family and their various undertakings. Robin is being chased around Bludhaven by ninja archers and flaming horsemen, Batgirl is talking to dead chicks and trying to go one on one with The Penguin's newly established empire, The Red Hood has been revealed to be "Good god if you don't know by now consider yourself lucky", and Batman is....well....Batman.
And now for the spoilers...
[spoil]
Last I saw of Batman he was dealing with the revelation of the new Red Hood's secret identity. An identity of none other than his second protege' Jason Todd. JT made his big comeback by showing up in Gotham and royally screwing over everyone, commiting such acts as stealing one hundred pounds of Kryptonite from Black Mask, beating Joker upside the head with a crowbar, and basically just being a dick all around.
Speaking of which....Grayson's getting back to his roots as it were following his three month hiatus as his Year One story was told. He's gone "undercover" in order to infiltrate the local crime scene in hopes of moving one step closer the DC's new kingpin of crime, Black Mask.
Batgirl recently got slapped around by a giant gorilla, half drowned to death, spoke with the spirit of Stephanie Brown aka Spoiler, and is now back on the beat in her new town.
Robin? Can't say. Haven't picked up an issue in a while.[/spoil]
With everything that's going on in the Bat family, how is one to keep up? And what are your thoughts on these developmets? Shoud "you know who" have been brought back? Is Batman doing the right thing isolating himself from hsi partners? Will Robin's life ever stop sucking like a hoover with a Tim Allen supercharger?
